U.S. TRANSPORTATION SECRETARY LAHOOD WILL NOT SERVE FOR A SECOND TERM

04-Feb-2013

After serving four years in President Obama’s Cabinet, Secretary LaHood is stepping down. LaHood thanked the Department of Transportation employees for their work and urged them forward saying “Now is not the time to let up - we still have a number of critical safety goals to accomplish and still more work to do on the implementation of MAP-21.”

American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials Executive Director John Horsley commended U.S. Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood for his leadership during the past four years.

“AASHTO looks forward to continuing to work with Secretary LaHood and his successor to fully implement the reforms included in MAP-21 and to identify a long-term, sustainable funding source for our nation's transportation system. It has been a pleasure working with Secretary LaHood and we wish him well."
