General Statement of Responsibilities:
Working under the direction of an 8 member public transportation Board of Directors, the Executive Director directs, plans, organizes and controls the management and operation of commuter and city fixed route bus services in Blaine County, Idaho, skier and tourist buses, vanpool operations, ridesharing, bike/ped programs, and intermodal planning. MRTA is a Joint Powers Authority created by the Cities of Sun Valley, Ketchum, Hailey, and Blaine County, is funded by these local entities, as well as federal transit funds, farebox revenues, and private funding from the Sun Valley Company and other private employers.

MRTA operates 17 buses and 13 vans with an annual ridership of 480,000+ passengers, 650,000-750,000 miles per year, employs 45 peak season employees, has an annual operating budget of $2.4 million and a Capital Improvement Program.

Desired Minimum Qualifications:
Four years' progressively responsible leadership, managerial and administrative experience in a public transportation agency, outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, and a passion for public transportation.

A bachelor's degree in transportation, public or business administration or closely related field.

Summary of Duties:
Duties include general management of MRTA, administering the financial affairs of the system, insuring MRTA compliance with state and federal regulations, and serving as the liaison to key local, regional, state and federal organizations to facilitate multimodal planning and funding and to advance the system’s future. This position requires significant outreach to, and interface with, a wide array of stakeholders, elected officials, regional and community leaders and customers.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Willing to work flexible hours to meet the needs of the agency, including nights and weekends if necessary
  • Eligibility for a Class B Driver’s License.
