Dump the Pump Day - Boise Proclamation


June 20, 2013 is the nations 8th annual Dump the Pump Day, which encourages people to ride public transportation to save money, protect the environment, reduce dependence on foreign oil, and improve the quality of life for all Americans.

Mayor Bieter, Mayor of the City of Boise, has proclaimed that June 20th is indeed Dump the Pump Day in Boise.

People who utilize public transportation can save, on average, more than $9,700 per year - that's based on today's gas prices, the cost of owning a car, and the average unreserved parking rate.  Also, U.S. public transportation use saves 4.2 billion gallons of gasoline per year - the equivalent of 900,000 cars filling up every day.
